Thin Line Fest, often abbreviated as TL Fest, is an annual city-wide festival of film and music organized jointly that takes place during the spring in Denton, Texas, United States.^[1] The film portion of the festival is the longest running documentary film festival in Texas.

Enhancing Online and Onsite Experience for Thinline Festival

Client Background and Challenge

Thinline, a dynamic event blending music, film, and photography, required a solution that could effectively manage and update a vast amount of content for both online and onsite audiences. The challenge was to keep data—such as music tracks, film sessions, images, trailers, and music videos—continuously updated by a team while also providing real-time tracking of performances for attendees.

Solution: Deploying SheetsCMS for Dynamic Content Management

To address these needs, we deployed our proprietary tool, SheetsCMS. This solution allowed Thinline's team to collaboratively manage their existing Google Sheets, which served as the central database or "source of truth" for all event-related data. The tool enabled seamless, real-time updates to the website, ensuring that content remained current and accessible to both online and onsite audiences.

Implementation: Real-Time Performance Tracking and Attendee Management

In addition to content management, we implemented a system to monitor the timing of performances and film screenings, providing logged-in users with real-time tracking of events. This feature helped users locate where and when performances were happening, whether online or in person.

For in-person attendees, we integrated a badge system that distinguished between free and VIP registrants. These badges were connected to the registration database, allowing volunteers to use mobile devices to scan and track onsite attendance. This integration provided Thinline with comprehensive data on audience engagement, both online and offline.

Outcome

The deployment of SheetsCMS and the real-time tracking system successfully met Thinline’s needs, offering a seamless and interactive experience for both online and onsite audiences. The event’s organizers were able to manage and update content effortlessly, while the tracking system provided valuable insights into attendee behavior, enhancing the overall event experience.
